Our aim is to stop the building of a nuclear power station on the most unsuitable site in Britain. The 2008 planning laws allow any utility company to build a nuclear power station almost wherever they want. The village of Kirksanton, set at the foot of Black Combe and adjacent to the Lake District National Park, is the most inappropriate place for such a huge development.
Charles Hendry, Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, stated:
“We have taken some sites in Cumbria off the list, which we felt were inappropriate for new nuclear investment…..”.
